D World Tour 2012 Dying Message - Live Report, Hamburg Germany
Germany, Hamburg – Knust, 06.May 2012
The day began with me taking too much time at home, so I missed the underground (which drives over ground half of the time, btw) I had planned to take. When I arrived at the livehouse, I realized that it was completely alright to get there at 14.45 instead of 13.30, though, because they presented a soccer game on outdoor TV and there was a big crowd.
Due to this, the band was not even there yet. They arrived at 15.10 at the backstage entrance. All of the fans who were already there stood at some distance to watch them. When they noticed us, they waved, and we waved back cheerfully. I was really surprised about the mature behavior of all people gathered. No screaming, no photos.
After the band had walked into the building, the small crowd dispersed. I returned to the backstage entrance alone, so I had the chance to watch Hiroki walking to and from the equipment car twice with drum parts. When he noticed me he waved and I returned the gesture.
After that I was simply waiting for the time to pass. At about 5 o’clock my friends Tine (Lucel) and sister with a friend arrived from Berlin. Later I met another friend Annika, and we stood in line until 19.00. Because of the soccer game, the bar at Knust was open all the time, and I could use the toilet whenever I wanted. That was really great. We submitted our bags and jackets to the wardrobe desk, and entered the hall. Finally, at about 8 o’clock the band entered the stage to sit on the prepared chairs for a Q&A session that they wanted to hold before each concert during their tour this year.
Despite this, Hide-Zou, Tsunehito and Asagi looked quite annoyed with it from the start. Maybe because they feared more stupid questions from us like they seemed to have gotten at earlier Lives. We were given a mic from a Torpedo Productions staff member, who directed it all. There were a few selfish questions, like making Asagi say “nyan” like a cat, while it looked funny it was also very embarrassing. And somebody asked Asagi to wish happy birthday to a friend of hers.
Somebody asked about the shape of Hide-Zou’s tattoo on his arm. An interesting question. It’s a phoenix.
A rather intelligent, but common question was about the costumes. In short, they have a designer for them who acts on their input and consultation. Asagi answered that.
Somebody else asked if they’d continue with the Vampire Stories which they affirmed. The next single after Dying Message will be about it, actually replied Asagi. A girl wanted to know if something strange happened during the tour. The person they had for translating the questions didn’t really answer it correctly, because Tsunehito told us in japanese that a fan did a marriage proposal towards Hiroki, but the translator woman only said a “love confession”. Hiroki seemed quite embarrassed by that incident.
At the end of the session a guy requested of the band to play “Eden” during the Live, because it had apparently never been played at a European live before. It’s a song, where Asagi usually lets the fans sing a big part of the lyrics. After asking his band members silently, Asagi agreed to do it. The last question was from a guy also, who wanted to sing the first part of “Vampire Missa” together with Asagi. Asagi replied that he wanted to sing the last part. I think, that was probably the case, because he didn’t remember the lyrics or the melody for the first part completely. Or he anticipated the guy to give up at that.
As expected, the guy said he could only sing the first part. However, he compromised to sing alone. Everyone was really impressed, even all of the band members, as it was very good singing and a nice impersonation of Asagi’s voice.
After that the live started at about 20:20. The first song was König der Dunkelheit. Second one i can’t remember, but third song was Huang Di.
(the whole setlist is at the end)
I really had trouble standing so close to the speakers and had to cover my left ear even with earplugs in. The bass and the base drum were so loud, even the speakers protested with a low buzz overlaying the whole sound at times. I think that Hide-Zou noticed it. I had a feeling he was looking at me sometimes… but that may have been my imagination and he looked at some people behind me, since with all that make up you could hardly see his eyes at all.
Some noticeable facts were that at the song “Hana Madoi” Asagi had a really long whip in his hand that he kind of waved around. At one time, he even grazed Tsunehito with the end. Asagi did the same hand motions with the fan for Huang Di as in the PV, as well as waving two flags around for Night-Ship ‘D’. All members touched the hands of the audience very often and Ruiza and Asagi let themselfes be touched on their body a lot as well. They often switched places on stage, too. Hide-Zou threw two plecs into the audience and Hiroki one pair of drum sticks. Maybe the others did something, too, but I didn’t notice.
I asked for a setlist (there were 5 taped to the floor) after the Live, but the staff members said, the band wants to keep them, so I have to trust the other people’s memory of the setlist. They said a few words in german, that they’ve been asked for at the Q&A as well.
Hide-Zou: Wie geht’s? (How are you?),
Tsunehito: Germany... (everybody laughed, because it wasn’t truly german),
Asagi: Ich liebe euch. (I love you),
Ruiza: Dankeschoen. (Thank you)....
I don’t remember if Hiroki said anything at all… I don’t think so, though. However, he played a totally awesome drum solo. Merchandise was alright, but the CDs were quite expensive. I didn’t buy anything, because I have to save money.
Thanks to some person who took photos at some other concert, here are some pictures of the merch...

A friend bought the Tour Docu DVD from 2011 and a set of two flags. My general opinion on the new costumes... Hiroki looks a little strange with the hair tied back like this, but the clothes are really nice.
Tsunehito... could really have done without those overly large fake eyelashes... otherwise... a lot of make-up, but he looked kinda cute. The clothes were quite nice, but the fake female chest could have been fabricated a little smaller...
Hide-Zou looked really awesome with accentuated broad shoulders and a handsome wild hairstyle.
Ruiza is really cute, especially compared to Asagi, who’s like 20cm taller and twice as large in general. He doesn’t look very delicate, though (like Tsunehito i.e.) and you don’t notice how small he is when he’s standing alone. He’s simply got a good body shape *__*
Asagi... well, he really should not have worn those hotpants... he’s simply too massive in his body structure to look good in this. Accentuated by net stockings and leather-overknee-somethings... he has really large thighs... and it really wasn’t hidden by his clothing. He wore a liitle too much black coloured make up, but in general I really loved the hotpants-skirt combination.
Well, to return to the Live, they came back on stage for encore twice, each playing one song. The last song was Day by Day. They didn’t come out for a 3rd encore, although I’ve never seen such constant simultaneous shouting for encore my whole live (for first and second encore, too).
Only Ruiza changed for the encore into the tour shirt.
They were smiling a lot during the whole live, and you could really see that they enjoy playing lives and doing music, even if they didn’t play a whole 2 hours.
